Spring Decorating with Candles
Winter may be over, at least according to the calendar, but this does not mean you have to put away the candles. Colorful, decorative, and fragrant candles can be used for decorating all year long, and the arrival of spring brings many new possibilities for decorating with candles. Keep those ordinary winter candles close at hand, and with a little rearranging and a few spring touches, you can turn plain winter candles into spring displays that will make your home more cheerful and delightfully decorated for spring.
Spring Fireplace Decor Most people stop using their fireplaces as soon as warmer weather arrives, but a fireplace is the perfect place to display candle arrangements for any occasion, holiday, or season. Clean the fireplace after the final use, and place a bed of dried moss on the log rack. Set three or more candles in holders of varying sizes and heights on the rack. Trim the stems of artificial flowers such as brightly colored blue or pink hydrangeas and white baby‘s breath, and arrange the flowers around the bases of the candles and moss. Tuck additional moss beneath the log rack to hide the stems, and you will have a beautiful and exceptionally impressive candle display.
New Spring Candle Rings
Winter candles in solid colors can be decorated for a completely new look with lovely spring candle rings. Red or green winter candles look fantastic when surrounded by a ring of artificial miniature white carnations, daisies, trailing vines, and baby's breath. Look for candle rings in stores, or make your own using floral wire and flowers of your choice. Make a simple wire ring with sturdy floral wire, and attach the heads of flowers, foliage, and sprigs of small dried artificial blooms with narrow gauge wire. You will enjoy making these beautiful spring candle rings as much as you will enjoy adding them to your decorating scheme.
Decorating with a Touch of Iridescent Glitter Sparkling decorations are not just for winter. Plain candles can be decorated to look more eye-catching for spring with the addition of fine iridescent glitter. Brush clear drying craft glue on the sides of ordinary candles, and roll them in fine iridescent glitter of your choice. Surround them with spring candle rings, and they will look extremely unique and eye-catching when displayed on a mantel, end table, or as a spring centerpiece on a kitchen or dining room table.
Decorating Candles with Pushpins Are you bored by decorating with ordinary pillar candles? Purchase inexpensive pillar candles, or use the leftovers from winter, and embellish them with unique and decorative spring pushpins. You can find pushpins of all colors and themes in craft stores, and they can turn ordinary winter candles into extraordinary works of wax art. Consider using whimsical ladybugs, fanciful flowers, butterflies, hummingbirds, frogs, or any other pushpins appropriate for spring decorating. The pushpins can easily be removed and replaced when decorating for other seasons and occasions.
Decorating with a Beautiful Spring Display If you have a location in mind for displaying a candle arrangement, set up an impressive spring candle display using a variety of interesting wineglasses. Choose glasses of varying styles and heights along with spring-scented votive candles in pretty pastel colors. Arrange the wineglass candle holders on a table, shelf, mantel, or bar, and surround the bases with beautiful artificial flowers. Tuck in sprigs of dried baby's breath, a few trailing vines, or even some artificial grapes to match the wineglass theme.
Candles are not just for the cooler months of fall and winter. When lighted on a spring evening, a wineglass candle display will cast a warm glow while filling the room with the scent of spring flowers. Consider this or any of the other candle decorating ideas, tips, and displays for a completely different look for a fresh new season.
