My goodness! What a response to the last newsletter! Thank
you! I guess kid's decor is a biggie with tons of you out there. Glad you found the links helpful. Decorating of any kind is a real pleasure for me. I am going to address some other facets of decorating this month to keep the creative juices flowing. Because Decor Doc does so much more than kid's rooms, I have to try to cover all the bases! This month, I want to give some pointers on office and commercial decor. Those of you who have home businesses can benefit also. The goal is to maintain a professional look, while creating a warm atmosphere. There is no reason an office should be boring! The simple cure is some thoughtful "home touches". Artwork that works, plants, baskets, and shelving with pretty collectibles are nice. You see some of these things in almost all offices, but there is a difference between a dusty, worn out looking silk plant and a fresh lively looking one. Artwork can be run of the mill, or it can be unusual and eye catching. One professional I know changes out his office art with works brought from home. He is into sailing and has some oils that capture your attention! |
Now about those chairs! The most beautiful office I have seen in a long time, not only has exceptional decor, but the chairs are the same kind and quality one would buy for their home. I realize there is always a budget to deal with, but consider that a comfortable, welcoming office says "successful" and that attracts more clients! I would rather have three quality chairs, than six typical waiting room chairs. If you can't replace, then slipcover them! Plan for replacing chairs one by one. It will make a big difference. These chairs would be lovely for your home, but are actually office
chairs!

Don't neglect good lighting! Well lit places are always more inviting.

An elegant room size carpet speaks volumes. Compare that to the usual
commercial carpeting one is used to seeing. A Doctor's office is an
exception here. Any office where elderly or sick people have to walk
must be careful to not add anything one could easily trip over! But
there are many commercial carpets out there that do not look like commercial
carpets! And reasonably priced carpet that will last! The nicest look
is a rug over a wall to wall carpet. Luxurious!
