Instructions for Tea Cup Bird Feeders AND Glass Block Lights

TEA CUP BIRD FEEDERS:
Made By Eileen

MATERIALS/DIRECTIONS:

Tea cup bird feeders

1-½" piece of copper tubing 40" long (a 10' length cut into 3 pieces) sand the edges
1-½"end cap either copper or PVC (at the home improvement center) it fits the end of the coper tubing
1 saucer
1 tea cup
1 tea spoon
loctite silicon glue
bird seed tied in a small bag with raffia (will be placed inside the cup)

To put it together:

Turn the tea cup upside down on the table, run a bead of glue around the bottom, attach the saucer, then attach the closed end of the end cap to the middle of the bottom of the saucer. This should set for several hours or overnight is best. Once dry, turn over and attach the tea spoon with a little glue. Now attach the end piece to the copper tube. Put a punch hole in the poem and tie it on, place the bag of seed in the cup and you are all done.

Eileen's Directions:
I bought a copper end cap that would fit the end of the copper pipe (¾ inch). I glued the end cap to the bottom of the saucer, then glue the cup to thesaucer ...be sure to let the glue cure,,then slide the end cap onto the pipe. It comes apart easily for cleaning and slips right back on. Be sure to grab the end cap when you separate them, not the saucer.

I used Goop glue in a tube. It seems like it bonded well. Be sure to weight the pieces when gluing....

I used nylon net to tulle and put birdseed in and gathered it with jute or a pretty ribbon..

Glass Block Lights:
Made By Eileen

MATERIALS/DIRECTIONS:

Glass Block Lights

Alcohol
Hollow glass block - Found at Lowe's & Home Depot, depending on size from $1-$3.00
clear spray sealer or lamination
Kilz spray or can (again any brand will work)
½" glass bit ($13 at Home Depot or Lowes)
strand of clear lights (20 lights for the 4X8X3 (small size) and 35 lights for the 6X*X3 size)
E-6000

Graphics printed from your computer to fit the area of the glass light you buy

Eileens Directions:
Wipe the glass block off with the alcohol.
Drill hole in back of block (wear safety goggles).
I drill dry, going very slow. This is where the lights will be inserted.
Print your graphic from the computer. I then run the graphic thru the laminator using the adhesive cartridge.
(**Other options:
You could print it on a full size sheet of label paper. Spray the graphic with the sealer.
You could laminate with Duck Laminate Contact Paper from Walmart in the contact paper Isle if you don't have a laminator.
You can print on regular paper and decoupage it to the glass.)
Tape around the block exposing the middle. . Sponge the Kilz on the back of the block where you drilled the hole.
When dry spray two coats of sealer on.
Thread the lights in thru the hole.

Attach your graphic to the front side and smooth down. Spray again with sealer. .
Put a dab of E-6000 at the top and bottom of block and wrap the ribbon around the sides.
Attach bow at top with E-6000 and you're done.
Any of the supplies can be substituted with what you have on hand.

I would not use hot glue for the ribbon as it doesn't hold very well to glass.
If you don't like making bows, just wrap the ribbon around the sides and use a floral
pick on top.
